The young driver from St-Eustache
realized a great feat by placing his car seventh on the starting
grid. Kevin Lacroix, who just joined the small Brooks Associates
Racing Team, has taken the first on track opportunity to offer
his new bosses the team's and season's best starting position
yet.

PFurthermore, this seventh place didn't happen by chance. Kevin was competitive during the whole qualifying session. He showed great consistency with very little difference from one lap to another.
It was another Canadian who took pole position, James Hinchcliffe, who was Kevin's teammate for Team Canada in the A1GP series. Hinchliffe's fastest time was of 1:06.561, which was enough to get in front of the current championship leader, Raphael Matos. Kevin Lacroix's time was less than half a second from Hinchcliffe's pole. Lacroix has once again showed his great talent by taking a back marker car and moving it up to the front with some of the best drivers in the series. Moreover, he realized this feat after only two test days in the car, while the other drivers involved in the championship have already contested three races.
"I don't think I've made many friends here, my arrival in the Champ Car Atlantic series seems to bother many of them. I also had an incident with another driver in qualifications, it's nothing to help building good relationships, mentions Kevin. I tore the front wing off and damaged the tunnels that manage 75% of the car's downforce. I had to stop by the pits. The team was able to repair the wing but not the sidepods that were pretty banged up. Once I was back on track, I soon realized that I wouldn't be able to better my times and the golden laps we can get out of the tires are only good over 4 to 5 laps. When the contact occurred, my tires were already at their maximum."
Without this incident, Kevin realized that he could have gotten a top 5
" I was with the top 5 during the whole session, without this incident with the other driver, I'm sure I could have made the top 5, the car was going great, claims Kevin. I'm very confident for tomorrow morning and I hope that the driver I collided with is not too vindictive", concluded Kevin.
