Kevin Lacroix obtains 3rd place in qualifying at Portland

Portland, Oregon, July 22 2006 - The qualifying session for the 7th event of the Star Mazda Series begun this afternoon at 2:15 ET. Kevin Lacroix did the third best time at only 1 tenth of the pole taken by Carrio. Lacroix did his best time at the 4th lap. He couldn't do better because his tires got used pretty rapidly.

The 17-year-old Canadian is glad for his result. He is confident for his race because the firts corner is very fast, which is an advantage for the drivers who are starting in the interior. The final will begin at the end of the day at 6:20 ET.

The track has been modified for the first lap. Drivers will not have to do the first chicane because it would be too risky to cause an accident. So the race will start with a long straight followed by a fast corner.
