A weekend to forget for Kevin Lacroix

Starting from the 12th place on the grid for the Cleveland race, the young driver lost much ground, by the end of the first lap, he was 19th. Profiting from the withdrawal of a few cars and by passing other competitors on track, Kevin managed to cross the finish line 14th. Both, driver and the team, Brooks Associates Racing, were less than competitive all weekend long. Fortunately, they will be able to try again next week, when the Champ Car Atlantic series visits the Circuit du Mont-Tremblant.

Kevin’s comments
“I had a good start by moving from 12th place to 8th, but I took the wrong trajectory at the entrance of the very fast chicane and went off track. That mistake sent me far at the back of the pack, I then started climbing positions to finish in 14th at the checkered.”

“There isn’t much good to retain from this weekend, we just weren’t competitive enough, neither in qualification nor in the race! explained a visibly disappointed young driver. I believe this is the only track of the sort this season. Edmonton is also setup on an airport runway, but according to my engineer, it is very different than the one we have here in Cleveland.”

“As if it weren’t enough, we had engine problems during yesterday’s qualifying session. The engine cut often on each lap, continues Kevin. The team took everything apart, le fuel cell, the fuel pump and the looked at the electronic components, but we didn’t find anything. They put everything back together and this morning, the car worked well.”

“I rather forget this race, says Kevin. Now, I just can’t wait to come back to Quebec to race in Tremblant. We will have a new engine, since the one we had in Cleveland is already over the recommended mileage.” Comments Kevin.
