Keep tracking the success of this rising star!
Born on March 14th 1989 in Saint-Eustache, a suburb north of Montreal, Kevin Lacroix has excelled in motorsport for the last seven years. Successful in karting from the very beginning, Kevin is now considered a diamond in the rough among the last generation of the Canadian drivers. His ability as a driver is exceptionnal while his attitude is even better. With 22 outright victories and 41 podiums in 50 races, Kevin has earned respect from his fellows drivers, organizers and medias.
It all started in 1995 when his parents, already motorsport fans, took 6-year-old Kevin to a kart facility and put him in a rental machine. Kevin on that very day experimented the exquisite feeling of speed and the sheer pleasure of driving by himself. Showing determination and talent from day one, it took only a few weeks before his father bought his first competition machine. After he got his first competition license in the Spring of 96, Kevin entered the last three events in the cadet catégory in the Coupe de Montréal championship.
1997 was the real beginning of the learning curve. Getting used to his machine, Kevin was registered in three different championships : Quebec, Montreal and la Mauricie, close to his home track, Pointe du Lac. The young man was already a revelation as he stepped twice on the podium.
1998 was indeed the year of his first career win. He also finished in the top three and made the podium in two occasions. He was then only 9 years old !
In 1999, after a change in the sporting rules and given his record in the two previous years, Kevin was given the possibility to race in a higher catégory, Formula 100 junior. This difficult decision appeared to be the right one as Kevin, who had just turned 10, earned a whopping 13 podiums in only 15 starts !
With only a year of experience in this catégory, 2000 was very successful as Kevin became Quebec vice-champion while winning the Eastern Quebec Championship along the way.
Supported by PSL racing team, who has only one driver to handle, Kevin carefully builds his career. In 2001, he was entered in the elite catégory of the ICA junior class in three different championships. He couldn't have done better than becoming the Eastern Quebec champion and getting the honourable title of Quebec vice-champion in his first year at such a high level of competition.
With victory in mind at every start, Kevin didn't need more to r
epeat his string of successes in This past year, Kevin confirmed his gifted craft behind the wheel and showed again how promising he really was. A few weeks before the last race of the Quebec championship and the Eastern Quebec championship, Kevin was crowned 2002 champion. After establishing himself as one of the rising stars on his home turf, he knows that his future lies in international series. For this reason, he did not hesitate to race in the USA for a second year. His presence was noticed by experts in the very competitive Super Kart USA with a very good qualifying session ( 3rd ), a win in the pre-final and a 5th place in the final.
With such convincing results over the last years, Kevin, at age 13, is nothing but a hero for his parents, his sponsors and friends that all believe he has a strong future ahead of him.
His record is self-evident : Kevin Lacroix represents undoubtebly the future of Canadian motorsport !
